Don't Label Me: Partnering to Change our Polarized Culture

Saturday, April 22, 2023 1 Iyyar 5783

7:00 PM - 9:00 PMUnitarian Fellowship of Redwood City

Does your teen, spouse or close friend hold different attitudes that make it difficult to talk about issues? Is it difficult to understand where the differences (and common ground) lie? Do they feel misunderstood or not heard? How do you stay engaged with those that have vastly different beliefs?  Or should you?

Join Professor Irshad Manjii for a fireside chat and learn how to turn contentious issues into constructive conversations and healthy teamwork.  Irshad will draw on her own story and lessons learned as she talks about the toxicity of win/lose debates, the liberating power of listening to learn rather than to win, and tips & tricks for standing your ground while creating common ground at the same time.

Deadline to register is April 20th, 2023.

Irshad Manjii is the founder of Moral Courage College, which equips people worldwide to discuss polarizing issues productively.  A professor of leadership with New York University for many years, she now teaches with Oxford University’s Initiative for Global Ethics and Human Rights.  She is also the New York times bestselling author, most recently of Don’t Label Me: How to Do Diversity Without Inflaming the Culture Wars
