Teitelbaum Lecture—Becoming Elijah: Prophet of Transformation, with author Daniel C. Matt (Hybrid)

Sunday, March 31, 3:00 pm at CBJ

In the Bible, Elijah is a zealous prophet who attacks false gods and performs miracles. Ultimately, he is carried off to heaven in a fiery chariot. How did this fierce zealot turn into the compassionate Jewish superhero—the most popular figure in Jewish folklore and herald of the Messiah, who is anticipated at every Seder? In this talk, Daniel Matt will explore these questions by teaching passages from the Bible, Rabbinic literature, the New Testament, and Kabbalah.
