Dear Families,
We are pleased to once again offer our program for the High Holy Days. Children up to 3rd grade are encouraged to sign-up for camp. Sixth and Seventh graders have the opportunity to do a mitzvah and help out with the younger grades. Community Service Hours are available.

Camp Shofar will include prayer services for all ages, as well as a balance of educational and social components. Campers will be assigned to age-appropriate groups (siblings who are in different age groups will not be together) led by counselors, junior counselors, and teachers. Younger groups will also have 6th and 7th grade volunteers to help out. Campers aged three years and younger will be under the supervision of adults. All paid and volunteer staff will participate in mandatory safety training.

There are two goals for Camp Shofar:
  1. For children to develop a spiritual connection to Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.
  2. To give parents the peace of mind that their children are enjoying a meaningful High Holy Day experience in a safe, nurturing environment.
For those who are new to the program, please note, we follow the rules of what is permissible to do on a holiday. Our teachers and counselors work very hard to prepare learning activities that meet these guidelines and yet are fun and imaginative.

Your child will need to bring a dairy lunch and non-perishable snack; snack will not be provided. We suggest making lunches the night before camp and, for Yom Kippur, before you begin your fast. The classrooms at CBJ are a NO-NUT ZONE. Please do not send peanut butter, other nut butters, or nuts in lunches and snacks. Thank you for your cooperation.

  • A dairy lunch and non-perishable snack (no nuts) with drink.
  • Hat | Water Bottle | Sunscreen | Sneakers | Change of clothes when appropriate
  • 2 masks
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on each day of the program, your child must go through screening. You will answer a couple questions and sign-in your child with a sticker. You do not need to fill out any forms or bring any documentation. Children who exhibit any symptoms of illness should remain home. We are trying to create a healthy and safe environment for children and our community. Thank you for your support and cooperation.
