Tributes and Memorials
Congregation Beth Jacob offers several meaningful ways to mark special occasions and to memorialize our loved ones.
Purchasing a “simcha triangle” pays permanent tribute to the honorees on occasions such as major anniversaries, birthdays, and graduations. Many people purchase a simcha triangle to honor Beth Jacob clergy and teachers. The cost of a leaf is $360, and the proceeds, less the production cost, go directly to support the operation of the synagogue. We are glad to ceremonially unveil a new simcha triangle on an occasion of your choosing. Click here to download the order form.
Our memorial display includes all names previously purchased as yahrzeit plaques, going back many decades. You may add the names of your loved ones by downloading and submitting this form. All names in the system scroll year-round, and those with a yahrzeit in the current week also scroll along the right side. Donors have the option of including an illustrated biography of the deceased. CBJ includes the name of the deceased in our Book of Remembrance in perpetuity at no additional cost.
Book of Remembrance
For many years, Congregation Beth Jacob has produced a Book of Remembrance, which is distributed at the Yizkor memorial service on Yom Kippur. The Book of Remembrance includes, at no additional cost, all names that appear on a memorial plaque. For a suggested donation of $36 per name, many of our congregants add special memorial messages to the beginning of the Book. An order form for the Book of Remembrance is sent to all members along with their High Holy Day tickets.
Establishment of Restricted Funds
Restricted funds allow fundraising in support of causes dear to our congregants and their loved ones. Donations to restricted funds are segregated from general operating funds and are disbursed according to rules established by the fund’s founders. A minimum contribution of $10,000 is required to establish a new fund.
Contribution to Endowment
Beth Jacob’s endowment is administered by the Jewish Community Endowment Fund of the Jewish Community Federation. Beth Jacob hopes to build an endowment substantial enough to enhance our financial stability and support the furtherance of our mission.
Please contact our Executive Director, Eric Stone, by email or at 650-366-8481, with questions about contributing to one of these Tribute or Memorial Funds.
