Laura was born and raised in Milan, Italy. After attending the Jewish Day School in Milan, from Kindergarten through 12th grade, Laura moved to the United States in 1984 when she married her French husband, Arié. They settled immediately in Foster City, where they have raised their two children, Daniel, 22 and Nicole 17. Before joining the CBJ team, she worked as a bookkeeper/office manager for an Italian company in Mountain View, for Xerox in Palo Alto in the Translation and Localization services, and as a translator and language instructor for various organizations. Laura has enjoyed working as a bookkeeper at Congregation Beth Jacob since May 2005.
Director of Education
Michal comes to us with a wealth of experience as a Jewish educator. She has a Master of Arts in Education and a Bachelor of Literature in Hebrew Letters from the University of Judaism. She has experience as a religious school principal at Adat Shalom congregation in Los Angeles and is also uniquely familiar with our school, having served as our NESS (Nurturing Excellence in Synagogue Schools) consultant for the last two years. In her role as consultant, she authored the assessment of our school, leads the professional development training for all of our teachers, and consults with our Curriculum Committee. She understands our plans for transforming the CBJ Religious School into a "best in class" program. She has the skills and experience to lead us to achieve our goals. She brings excellence, experience, warmth and passion to the job. We feel very blessed to have found someone with her talent and devotion to lead our school today and into the future.
Director, Beth Jacob Preschool
Ann Cauterucci is the founding Director of the Beth Jacob Preschool. Her 30 years in Jewish Early Childhood Education include 20 years at Ta’Enna Preschool at the Palo Alto Jewish Community Center, where she taught and ultimately directed the program. Ann has led numerous teacher-training workshops both locally and nationally, and coordinated a Mentor Teacher program for Palo Alto Community Child Care. She was the recipient of the Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Excellence in Jewish Education award in 2003.
Eric Stone joined Congregation Beth Jacob in 2007, from Congregation Beth Sholom in San Francisco, where he was Clergy Assistant. Prior to devoting his life to Jewish service, Eric, who was born and raised in New Jersey, was Executive Vice President and General Manager at The Learning Company, a pioneer in educational software, and received his Bachelor of Arts in Near Eastern Studies from Princeton University. At Beth Jacob, Eric is responsible for all aspects of the synagogue’s operations and development, including membership management, finance, communications, and administrative support.
Hue Truong joined the staff of Congregation Beth Jacob as full-time Custodian in 2008. Hue worked for many years at the First Congregational Church in Redwood City, and his relationship with them has spanned more than 25 years. Hue courageously came to this country to start a new life, and since that time he has proved himself to be a dedicated, hard working person with a generous spirit. Hue’s hiring filled a genuine need at CBJ for an on-staff custodian who could be on site with us at our busiest times. You will see him here on Shabbat, during religious school, and at most of our special events.
