Solomon Project
The Solomon Project is the much-needed renewal and renovation of Beth Jacob’s physical facilities. We deserve a renovated facility to meet the needs of our growing community, dynamic leadership and vibrant services and programs.
SOLOMON PROJECT GROUNDBREAKING AND PICNIC
Sunday, August 29, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., in the Beth Jacob play yard.
Let’s cut the ribbon together to mark the beginning of the Solomon Project construction at CBJ! We’ll enjoy great grilled food made by the members of our Henry Rabin Minyan, a bouncy house for the kids, a Sing-along with Cantor Barbara, and a chance to kick off the new year together with friends and community.
- 3:00 to 5:00 - Eat, play, and schmooze. Bouncy houses and art activities for the kids
- 5:00 to 5:20 – Sing-along with Cantor Barbara Powell
- 5:30 to 6:00 – Groundbreaking ceremony with Rabbi Ezray and Greg Sterling, in front of the lobby and Chapel entrances
Co-sponsored by the Henry Rabin Minyan and the Kesher Committee
The Solomon Project construction and fundraising teams have made terrific progress in recent months. We are excited to report that:
-
Designs and permit applications are in their final stages, with construction targeted to begin as soon as mid-July, toward a completion date in early 2011.
-
$3.4 million -- over 90% of the total estimated project cost -- has been raised from 125 members. Many thanks to the generous donors who have already pledged their support.
Commencing construction is an important and meaningful milestone. Whether you attend services, school, or other programs at CBJ, you will benefit from this first phase of improvements. We need to raise 95% of project costs of $3.7 million in order to break ground. As we enter the “home stretch” of fundraising, we hope those who have not yet donated will consider a “stretch” gift, payable over three-to-five years. Stay tuned for further information about how you can help!

FUNDRAISING INITIATIVE FOR SOLOMON PROJECT
Dear Fellow Congregants,
As full-time active Realtors on the Mid-Peninsula, one of the best parts of our job is helping families find a new home that perfectly suits their needs. As members of Congregation Beth Jacob, we're thrilled to offer our professional excellence to help our CBJ 'family' renovate our spiritual home: creating an expanded, greatly improved building that will meet our needs for years to come.
We're writing to you today to announce a special program we've developed, in conjunction with CBJ leadership, to donate a portion of our brokerage from each and every home sale that involves a CBJ member, either directly or by referral. Simply put, if you, someone in your family, or a friend you refer, hires one of us to help purchase or sell a home, we will donate 20 percent of our brokerage to The Solomon Project. (On a $1,000,000 sale price, for example, that could amount to a donation of about $5,000.) By hiring one of us, you, your family, and your friends not only benefit from top-tier representation in Mid-Peninsula real estate, you'll also enable enhanced support for our synagogue's renovation, so critically necessary and long overdue.
We're very excited to be able to offer this program, and we look forward to talking with you about it in more detail. Please contact any one of us, any time. We look forward to helping you achieve your personal housing goals, and to helping us all enjoy our 'new' community home at Congregation Beth Jacob.
Sincerely,
