MISSION STATEMENT

Congregation Beth Jacob is a joyful and caring home where students learn to embrace their Jewish identity. It is a place where every student discovers the importance of Jewish values, learning, and community. Our students emerge as lifelong learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to participate actively in Jewish community and life, devoted to mitzvot and social action.

GOALS

The Beth Jacob Religious School believes that fostering Jewish continuity requires a solid Jewish education. Upon completion of their formal Jewish education, our students should be able to:

  • Live ethical Jewish lives

  • Perform acts of Tikkun Olam (“repairing the world”)

  • Participate, actively and with understanding, in prayer services

  • Be familiar with both written and spoken Hebrew

  • Perform mitzvot (act according to the commandments)

  • Demonstrate a connection to and love for the State of Israel

  • Understand Jewish history

  • Identify as a member of k’lal Yisrael (the world Jewish community)

VALUES

We value Talmud Torah - the mitzvah of studying Torah - and teach the weekly parasha to our students and their families. As it is said in Talmud Shabbat: "One person's candle is light for many". Our Torah is light to our people and so are the children and families of Congregation Beth Jacob for they are shining examples of what our tradition exemplifies: Goodness, Mitzvah and joy.
